  • We are looking for a well presented and motivated apprentice for Atlantic Language Services.

    An administration assistant is required to assist with the day-to-day running of the language training department.

    The tasks would be very varied and would include the following:

    • welcoming students and tutors
    • booking lessons for students with tutors
    • arranging for new students to meet with tutors
    • processing invoices and payments both from students and to tutors
    • using tutoring management software to keep records of lessons and enquiries
    • using accountancy software to keep records of payments
    • using social media for marketing purposes
    • vetting potential tutors and maintaining a workable database
    • general office and administrative tasks

    Weekly/Hourly Rate

    £4.50 per hour (Exceeds the National Minimum Wage for an Apprentice)

    Working Hours

    35 hours per week

    Progression and/or a long term career.

    Additional Information

    There may be the possibility of applying the skills learned to the other services provided by the company, such as vetting potential interpreters and maintaining a workable database.

    Employer Description

    Atlantic Language Services provides foreign language translations, interpreting (face-to-face and telephone) and tuition in all of the main European and International languages to individuals and businesses throughout the UK and Europe.

    Tuition is provided through a team of highly experienced and qualified tutors who teach at all levels and for all purposes. As native speakers they are also able to provide their students with wide ranging insights into the culture of the country concerned. Lessons take place from Monday to Friday at the classroom suite in Plymouth City Centre or at the student’s home.

    Skills Required

    • IT skills, particularly with Microsoft Office and a good understanding of social media
    • Good time management skills and the ability to work well under pressure

    Personal Qualities

    The successful candidate must have very strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially a good telephone manner. They must be a team player, and have a keen interest in foreign languages and cultures. It is also important that the candidate is flexible, willing to learn and has a good sense of humour.

    They must have a methodical and organised approach to their work. They must have good IT skills, especially confident in using Microsoft Office, and not be afraid to use new software.

    Qualifications Required

    Candidate is required to have GCSE Grades A-C in Maths and English. The same in ICT is also preferable.
