GHQ Training’s Ofsted Report

On 28th and 29th November 2017, we were visited by Ofsted for a short notice inspection of GHQ’s training centre. We are delighted to have maintained a rating of good and have received some very positive feedback that we would like to share!

For 25 years, we have been dedicated to providing high quality training to develop and stimulate the natural talent of our learners to meet the needs of their employers and work place. Therefore, to hear feedback like the quote below about our reputation and high standards is very much appreciated.

“Employers reported that GHQ was their first-choice provider of apprentice training. They value the high standards that GHQ sets for learners, the regular support and training from GHQ’s assessors and its thorough approach which ensures that learners develop good skills, attitudes and knowledge.”

The inspectors were given the opportunity to meet a selection of our employers and our learners in order to gather information on how we provide learning and support along with information, advice and guidance across all levels of NVQs and Apprenticeships within each of the sectors we specialise in.

“All learners interviewed have seen great improvements in their communication skills and self-confidence; this was confirmed by their employers. Learners are highly motivated and use very positive language to describe their experience of their programme and the quality of support they get from GHQ’s staff.”

We offer detailed advice and guidance on course information and career options to enable learners to make informed decisions about their futures. We know that an individual’s experience with GHQ Training is often their first step into the working world and we strive to match them to the most suitable course with an appropriate employer/work placement. Ofsted inspectors agreed this was a strength.

“A wide range of employers in south-west England have productive, long-term working relationships with GHQ. Staff continue to place learners on appropriate programmes at the right level with suitable employers.”

The Ofsted inspectors questioned GHQ staff members from all departments; including managers, recruitment officers and assessors, which confirmed their occupational competency and the high level of support given to our employers and learners. Their interviews revealed that our learners had an understanding of Safeguarding and Equality and Diversity. Ofsted inspectors could see that they had learnt skills on how to transfer the theory taught by their assessors into practice within their work placements.

“Learners confirm that GHQ’s staff are sensitive and provide good emotional support to those who are experiencing health or personal issues, enabling them to complete their programme successfully. Staff ensure that training resources, including books, games and visual media, reflect cultural diversity well.”

We have taken on board all the feedback received from Ofsted and will continue to further improve the way we operate in providing high quality training to our learners and employers within the South West region. What a positive way to end 2017 and enter our 25th year of service! We would like to mention a special thank you to all the employers and learners who were interviewed during this assessment process and gave such overwhelmingly positive comments. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all and we look forward to what 2018 has to bring!
