Overview

This qualification is designed to provide learners with the knowledge and understanding of babies and young children from birth to 7 years of age with applied knowledge in the early years, 0-5 years.

The qualification content meets the Department for Education’s (DfE) Level 2 full and relevant criteria for a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner in the workforce. It will provide progression to the Early Years Educator workforce at level 3.

Requirements

For a voluntary placement, a minimum of 16 hours is required.
Placement opportunities must allow for skills application with babies and young children sufficient to meet the assessment criteria for the qualification.

Cohort Dates & Length of Programme

  • Approximately 12 – 15 months to achieve all parts of the framework depending on individual circumstances.

  • Monthly sessions in the workplace or at GHQ Training weekly to be arranged on an individual basis.

  • Support babies and young children to be physically active

  • Support the needs of babies and young children with Special Educational Needs and Disability

  • Promote positive behaviour in Early Years Settings

  • Support the needs of the child in preparing for school partnership working in the early years

    You will be assessed on the units above by creating a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and competency. These assessments could include observations of work practices, written assignments, reflective practice and professional discussion.
