GHQ Training’s Hair and Beauty extravaganza has been acclaimed as the best yet !

GHQ Training’s Hair and Beauty extravaganza has been acclaimed as the best yet by salon owners and judges who attended their annual competition held at the Holiday Inn last night.

One of the judges James Beaumont said, “It’s great seeing new talent shining. The show’s a good way of inspiring learners and promoting potential careers through stage performance”.

There were 55 entrants from 1st,2nd and 3rd year Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy and Nail Technician groups who attend GHQ for their off the job training, while working in salons in Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall.

1st Year Hairdressing Theme, Blockbusters, was won by Hollie Landricombe from the Cutting Garden who said “It was great spending the day with everyone. I really enjoyed it and was over the moon to win in front of my salon and family”. Hollie’s salon manager, Heidi Smith, said “It was wonderful seeing young stylists showing their creative side. Hollie embraced the competition and we’re really proud of her”

2nd Year Winner Hannah Sampson’s boss John Hawton was delighted with Hannah’s result using the Sci Fi theme as her inspiration. “We’re so proud of Hannah from the Experience team. She spent weeks preparing her model and her dedication was rewarded with winning the level 2 category. Great evening, great show. “

Third Year Winner, Cath Core, from Spencers met the Oscars brief brilliantly with Mad Max as her inspiration, beating others in her year with some outstanding work. Single mum Cath said “I have so much to thank my tutors for. They have supported me throughout my time at GHQ and I couldn’t have done it without them.”  Cath’s salon owner Michelle Spencer of Spencer’s Hair Design said “It was a great evening and an excellent turnout to support apprentices. Congratulations to Catherine – she put in such a lot of hard work and it’s paid off.”

For the first time GHQ ‘s talented Beauty Learners took to the stage, with winning Hollywood looks  from  Beauty Therapy  student Tara Frayne (Terminator ) and Nail Tech’s winner (Little Mermaid ).

GHQ ‘s beauty team leader Claire Borrill said “ The competition inspired our future Nail Technicians and Beauty Therapists to produce some amazing work we’re all extremely proud of. Tara was ‘overwhelmed’ and Shannon was ‘shocked and thrilled’. “

Event organiser Jean Rogers said” Each year we see standards soar, and this year was truly exceptional. Many finished looks would do well in fashion magazines, and all the entrants deserve congratulations for putting in so much effort .”
