National Apprenticeship Week was from 14th to 18th March 2016, during which we went to many different events in Devon and Cornwall including the Skills Southwest Show at Plymouth Pavillions.
Skills South West is part of a national series of careers, jobs and skills events, bringing young people face-to-face with employers, training providers, further education colleges, universities, professional bodies and sector specific organisations. This highly interactive event offers learning through experiences, with hands-on activities and demonstrations helping visitors to focus on areas of interest, as well as encouraging them to explore different routes into a vast range of career opportunities.
We were able to meet with a large number of young people who were interested in becoming apprentices. It was an excellent opportunity to give them more information about how to reach their long term goals and where they can either get more information or apply for current vacancies.
During the event we had interactive demonstrations in nail art and hair braiding by learners at the college who were also able to speak with potential students attending the show.
Below is a video filmed at the event showing clips of the demonstrations that were being performed as well as interviews with the learners who explain the courses and why they enjoy studying at GHQ.
