Lets not forget how much time and effort goes into completing these qualifications, with NVQ Level 3’s being the equivalent to 2 A levels , and Level 4 is equivalent to Higher Education Cetificate / BTech. Level 5 is Undergraduate Level.

Careers advice
We can offer careers advice at any time during your training course and we organize support from the National Careers Service. Our next Careers Support session will be held at Plymouth HQ date to be confirmed. All learners can access this event remotely. Let us know if you are interested in attending and we’ll set this up for you.
Hot news Darren Middleton has agreed to be an ambassador for GHQ . He’s just completed his 3rd Qualification with GHQ Training and has keys to his new business.
Congratulations Darren on achieving so much in the 3 years since Lockdown!
Darren has an amazing story which we’ll fully share in our next newsletter, by which time we can hopefully see photographs of the new salon he’ll be fitting out over the coming months.
He started from the point of having no hairdressing experience whatsoever just 3 years ago, achieving a Women’s Hairdressing Qualification which enabled him to progress onto an NVQ level 3 Qualification. After finding many placements where Darren gathered a wide range of experience, he was one of the GHQ learners who joined Perfectly Polished. This was an amazing experience which helped towards gaining Level 3 NVQ in women’s hairdressing. The 3rd Qualification Darren wanted to add to his CV was the NVQ L3 Barbering, which he has just completed. What an amazing journey.
Darren was GHQ ‘s Learner of the Year 2022.

Congratulations Rayann Maker who’s completed her L3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning ( Classroom Assistant ) . Rayann has now found a new job as a result of qualifying. Her trainer assessor, Renata Chatkevic, pictured with Rayann is very proud of her achievements and high standard of work.
Nails and Beauty Media Day Weds 6th March
What a day to remember with professional photographer, Melanie Barnfield producing fantastic portfolio photographs. We were bowled over with the outstanding work produced by our learners, and how amazing the models were.

GHQ ‘S invested in Google Education
You can now access any of GHQ‘s extensive resources via Google Education which is an amazing tool for learners and staff.
EG Access tutorials you may have missed to catch up on lost learning. Check with your trainer assessor for relevant opportunities.
Adult Learner Loan funding running low !!
This year (August 23 – present date ) we’ve had a record number of approved Adult Learner Loan funded courses, so inevitably, our funding pot is almost empty.
You’ll need to be quick if you want to progress onto another course before July 2024.
NB from 1st August, we’ll have our new funding contract.

Curriculum planning
Further to announcing extra commitment to curriculum planning, we are listening to you and providing “ How to” set up your own business sessions across each centre.
These are being well received by our learners. There’ll be more sessions planned, including Marketing and using social media.
Let us know of any other topics which may be more aligned to your specific training sector, so we can make our plans work for you.
Eg in Hairdressing, since January we’ve delivered a series of masterclasses in our Plymouth HQ. For Example, Holographic Hair by Kim Burns.
Wellbeing Support for our communities
Sunflower Centre Plymouth
In Early March our hairdressing, beauty and nails team supported a 2nd pampering day for traumatized, vulnerable women at the Sunflower Centre Plymouth.
Our learners and staff were pleased to be told how much the treatments are valued, and in turn, our team felt the day was so worthwhile and rewarding to be part of. Carole Mitchelle, Nail tutor said “This was one of the best things I’ve ever done. It was fantastic to be part of it, and make a difference to the women at the centre”
