We work with and support a great many businesses throughout the South - West of England. We take great pride in providing the highest quality training whilst ensuring both staff and students are 100% satisfied with the service they receive. We welcome all feedback, some of which is shown below.
The training planned and delivered under GHQ Training under the ESF project has been a valuable asset to our work at REACCH Autism South West. This training programme has been so effective both for our staff team and our students and trainees in helping us achieve this goal. The programme of training provided by GHQ training has allowed us to carry out training we require for staff within our scheduled weekly programme something which then allows students and trainees here on our site to join in with this training as part of their programme too. One of the great values of this programme has been to apply the learning outcomes directly to our project as the training is being delivered. This is clearly of benefit to us as a staff team but is also of benefit to people on the autism spectrum which we support. One young man attended the Health and Safety sessions and usually he is very unconfident and would not join in such a course but because we were able to have this delivered within his scheduled programme, alongside staff he trusted, he managed to attend and managed to answer 18 out of 20 HSE questions correctly. This has really encouraged him to feel he can attempt other training.

Just wanted to say, thank you so much for the course yesterday, the girls are all buzzing from it and can’t wait to get going. I really appreciate all the help and support GHQ gave us in getting the course organised for our salon.

I have to say a very big thank you to GHQ overall for your professionalism in assisting us to find a Business Administrator. Our apprentice really has taken to this role so well and he is settling in as part of the family already. He is very proactive in everything he does and the tasks we give him are immediately dealt with and in a professional manner. From beginning to end the service, guidance, advice and support has been fantastic. GHQ go out of their way to source the right candidates for the role available, our apprentice is a perfect match.

“As a small business it is very important that we get the right employee into the right role. GHQ has provided two excellent candidates through the apprentice scheme. They have helped train, support and guide both employees throughout their apprenticeships. As a new provider for such a scheme GHQ has been a valuable source of information and resource for myself. With GHQ the apprentices have felt that they are being trained in skills that will guide them throughout life and their chosen career path, from an employer point of view having an apprentice has only brought benefits to the workplace and has been a very positive experience”.
Teresa Nation, Practice Manager, Peverell Park Surgery
The service and help received from GHQ has proved invaluable in our search for a high-quality apprentice. By linking our organisation with a range of suitable applicants GHQ has enabled us to recruit a new team member who is rapidly proving to be an asset to the whole organisation.

We opted to work alongside GHQ as a partner when selecting people for our two year Modern Apprenticeships. We were keen to work alongside a provider that delivered good support for modules and the opportunity for young people to regularly study alongside peers who were working in other settings. The standard of the young people we have had has always been exceptionally high and our links with their tutors are strong. We have always found them to be positive and encouraging to the young people they work with and professional in their dealings with us. They were extremely helpful during the selection process when we took on new apprentices.

The Devon & Cornwall Food Association (DCFA) is a charitable organisation with limited financial backing. DCFA is absolutely delighted with the service received from GHQ Training in Plymouth. Having had a couple of false starts from other sources DCFA was beginning to lose faith in the National Apprenticeship Scheme but GHQ soon restored our faith. Nothing has been too much trouble, and the patience and understanding of both Managers and Staff has been beyond the norm. Our current apprentice is now firmly ensconced into our organisation and we have great faith in the backup that GHQ provides, both in advice and in the training provided. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending GHQ Training to others.Company Secretary - DCFA

Our students provide us with the most valuable feedback. We encourage each and every one of them to bring their views to our attention, both during and on completion of their qualification, so we can monitor exactly how we are doing. Here's what they think
‘’I met Michelle whilst completing Nail and Beauty qualifications a couple of years ago. She was always willing to teach by example, practically demonstrating techniques as well as providing the theory side of things, alongside her professional experience in the industry to deliver her courses. This rounded approach meant I felt better equipped when I was qualified and started to perform on clients. Michelle is approachable, fun, consistent & reliable. I particularly value that Michelle doesn’t take short cuts nor does she allow her students to. She upholds the necessary high standard that this industry requires. She has a vibrant, friendly and professional energy. I really value all the advice and support she has given me.’’
I have just started my learning journey with GHQ, the whole process has been really good from initial registration to the induction with my teacher, really impressed and pleased with my choice to join GHQ!
I started my level 3 Barbering in February 2020. Having trained at a couple of colleges this is by far the best option for hands on training in Plymouth. Dan has really excelled my barbering skills and confidence in such a short period of time. The content and theory is well balanced with the amount of practical carried out. There are a mixture of walk in clients. The training and learning we were given throughout the Covid period was brilliant and did not cause to much of a barrier to learning. The Covid measures set in place to protect students and client are also brilliant. I would highly recommend GHQ for future students looking at getting into the industry.

I just wanted to write to commend all the staff at GHQ for working quickly and efficiently when given short notice with new government guidelines due to Covid-19. All classes were quickly organised and had to be re arranged to start online. The process was made easily accessible by members of staff and the online lessons are set out in such a way and produced to such a high standard that I am confident It won’t hinder my course in anyway. As for the sessions the input is brilliant and my tutor is always in contact with resources for the lessons and to answer any questions. I would be happy to complete future courses with GHQ in and out of a lockdown.
Eleanor, Assessor Qualification
'GHQ for me was a brilliant experience, and as a slightly older learner with a low self confidence, I was given so much time and support through not only my training but also with issues surrounding my apprenticeship. Lisa made me feel powerful and confident, always there for me when I had any questions and always willing to show me any practical work that was missed, I previously did my apprenticeship in a busy salon, therefore, it was often difficult to learn as much as I wanted to and Lisa filled those gaps and give me helpful tips that have carried through into my professional career hairstylist. I completed my EPA in the middle of the pandemic which added to the nervousness and stress, but Lisa and the whole team at GHQ made me feel confident in my abilities and offered all the help and support I needed. I truly couldn't have done it without them. I'm now a self employed hairstylist and work in a busy and trendy environment, I have the most amazing team of hairdressers around me and I have built on what GHQ has given me and the confidence to go out on my own. Nearly a year from qualifying (most of that spent in lockdown) I have developed so much as a hairdresser, I can't wait what the next year will bring.'
Rebecca, Level 2 Hairdressing
I started my Level 3 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing and I can honestly say from walking through the door everyone was so lovely. It’s a lovely place to train, bright, clean and has all you need! My tutor James Jasper was brilliant, very patient and a great teacher. He explained everything so it was clear and really understandable, I didn’t feel at all uncomfortable asking any questions and I have learnt a lot already! If you’re thinking of starting a course I would definitely recommended GHQ Training. I was so nervous before I started and now feel like I am part of the lovely team, thank you!
Loraine – Level 3 Women’s Hairdressing Student
Thank you so much for your constant support and guidance since I've worked at the school. Without your time, effort and enthusiasm to help me achieve I wouldn't have completed my Level 2 Support Teaching & Learning Apprenticeship, Level 3 Diploma in Support Teaching & Learning and functional skills as well as I did. You've encouraged me so much and helped me to gain so much confidence as a learner and as a person.
Ellie – Support Teaching & Learning Student
When I look back over this course, I can see how much confidence I have gained. I have really enjoyed every aspect of the course and have learnt a great amount. I was really nervous when I started my practical assessments but the support I received has been a real benefit. I really enjoyed the practical side and getting to work with the learners. I will now look forward to starting a career as a childcare assessor.
L.Turner – Level 3 Assessor Qualification (CAVA)
‘I am so glad to be working with you again. Thank you again for being such an amazing assessor in every way! I really wouldn't have been able to continue if it weren't for you’
Olivia – Level 3 Business Admin Apprentice
Today I have completed the Level 3 Hair Studies course with Dan. I began the course with little knowledge of hairdressing but have always had an interest in it. The course has been a good foundation for me to start learning and developing a career in hairdressing. I would recommend this course to anyone looking to start a career in hairdressing.
Liz – Level 3 Hair Studies
Many many thanks to Helen - I am sure I have not been an easy student so appreciate your support. I would not have got through it without you. You're an absolute great tutor and mentor, it was so apparent that you wanted me to get achieve this as much as I was struggling, I didn’t give up.
Julie Eva – Speech and Language
The course has been demanding but Helen has provided the relevant information for me to succeeded. I really enjoyed the demands and the course work, its been extremely helpful in the work place and helping find resources to support my role as a TA.
