Overview

The VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement is a substantial vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as a vocational assessor. This qualification is designed for learners aged 19 years or older and will support you to gain employment as a vocational assessor, as the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role.

This is a practical-based qualification intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment, and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace (i.e. workshop, classroom or other training environment). Entry onto this qualification will require you to have full competence in the vocational subject area that you will be assessing and you will need access to a cohort of learners, so that you can gather evidence of real assessments.

  • The full CAVA qualification is a 6-9 month programme. Delivery involves group training sessions, observations by an assessor, online tests, visits in the workplace, personal research and distance learning, all with the ongoing support of a personal mentor/trainer.

Requirements

We will carry out a comprehensive initial assessment of your current competence and future requirements before you begin any programme.

  • You must have GCSE grades A-C or equivalent in English, or Functional Skills Level 2 in English prior to enrolment on this course

  • A minimum of 2 years of commercial experience in the area you want to assess is essential

  • Access to at least 2 learners to assess in your specialist area

Things to consider

Progression and business opportunities on achievement of the qualification, you will meet the quality assurance criteria necessary to assess NVQ, SVQ and VRQ qualifications. With experience, you will be able to progress to undertaking a qualification to enable you to carry out the role of Internal Quality Assurer.

Cohort Dates & Length of Programme

There are theory sessions to attend remotely or at GHQ Training Centre in Plymouth.

Funding

  • Advanced Learner Loans (Student Finance) are available to fund this course which allows you to borrow the money to cover the costs of the course and pay it back a bit at a time when you are earning more than £25,725 a year. Subject to eligibility.

  • Privately funded at a cost of £811 plus (VAT 4%) (payment plans are available should you proceed with the privately funded payment option – 50% deposit required).
