Overview
The level 3 (NVQ) Diploma in Barbering is based on the National Occupational Standards for Barbering.
It is a job-ready qualification which requires learners to demonstrate in the workplace the skills and knowledge required for advanced barbering within the Hair industry. This is an advanced qualification and supports your barbering practices at the highest levels.
Requirements
Applicants will ideally hold a Level 2 Barbering qualification, have experience of cutting men’s hair and be employed or have a work placement within a Barbershop/Salon.
Candidates with other relevant experience or qualifications, such as in hairdressing, may also be appropriate for this course, this is determined by individual circumstances
The uniform must be black and white only (no denim) and closed in comfortable shoes
Learners will be supported to source models when required
Learners will need to complete homework
Products and resources will be provided for use in sessions
Learners will be supported with work experience and career opportunities
A suggested kit list will be provided for learners should they wish to purchase to enhance their skills and progression.

The duration of this Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Barbering course is 10-18 months (depending on the individual).

Funding
Advanced Learner Loans (Student Finance) are available to fund this course which allows you to borrow the money to cover the costs of the course and pay it back a bit at a time when you are earning more than £25,000 a year. Subject to eligibility.
Privately funded at a cost of £3345 plus VAT (payment plans are available should you proceed with the privately funded payment option – 50% deposit required).
Units
There are 4 mandatory units that must be completed plus a minimum of 26 credits from the optional units. The mandatory units are:
Provide shaving services (11 credits)
Creatively cut hair using a combination of barbering techniques (14 credits)
Design and create a range of facial hair shapes (7 credits)
Provide hairdressing consultation services (8 credits)
