Overview

The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing is designed for learners who work in or wish to pursue a career in hairdressing. The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing provides the necessary skills and knowledge that prove occupational competence as a junior stylist.

This qualification allows candidates to learn, develop and practice the skills required to provide hairdressing services for all hair types. The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing covers a range of skills and knowledge such as cutting, drying, styling, colouring and lightening, relaxing and perming as well as shampooing and consulting with clients.

Requirements

No prior experience or qualifications are required, just a passion for hairdressing.

  • Candidates are required to supply a hairdressing kit and uniform (details can be obtained from GHQ Training).

  • The uniform for hairdressers at GHQ is black and white only and ‘closed in’ comfortable shoes.

Cohort Dates & Length of Programme

Duration of this Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing course is 12 months (or less depending on the individual). Placement in salon is advised.

The dates for this course consist of 1-2 days per week Wednesday and Thursdays at GHQ Training Centre.

  • Cost: Private Funding at £3,458.40 (inc VAT)

  • There is currently no funding for this course, therefore it will need to be self-funded – payment plans available.

Units

All mandatory units must be achieved; you will then choose 9 credits from the optional units to make up the necessary number of credits needed for the qualification.

Mandatory Units:

  • Style and finish Hair (6 credits)

  • Set and dress hair (6 credits)

  • Cut hair using basic techniques (8 credits)

  • Change Hair colour (11 credits)

  • Advise and consult with clients (4 credits)

  • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp (4 credits)

  • Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation (5 credits)

  • Ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety (4 credits)
