Overview

The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing is an occupational qualification for learners seeking a career as an employed and/or self-employed hairdresser/stylist. This qualification is based on Hairdressing National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the UK’s lead hairdressing professional association (The Hairdressing Council) as being fit for purpose for preparing learners for a career as a senior hairdresser/stylist.

The qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as an advanced hairdresser/stylist including health and safety; client consultation; advanced cutting; styling and colouring techniques and; selling products and services to clients.

Requirements

The uniform for hairdressers at GHQ is black and white only (no denim) and ‘closed-in’ comfortable shoes.

  • Learners will be supported to source models when required

  • Learners will need to complete homework

  • Products and resources will be provided for use in sessions

  • Learners will be supported with work experience and career opportunities

A suggested kit list will be provided for learners should they wish to purchase to enhance their skills and progression.

Cohort Dates & Length of Programme

  • Wednesday/Thursday 9.30 am-4pm

  • 1-2 days per week over 44 weeks (longer if 1 day only)

Funding

  • Private Funding at £4014 (Inc VAT) This course can be funded via the Advanced Learner Loan (subject to eligibility) which allows you to borrow the money to cover the costs of the course and pay it back a bit at a time when your income is over £25,000.

  • It won’t affect your credit rating

  • Your credit rating will not be taken into account

  • Repayments are linked to how much you earn, not how much you borrow.

  • Promote and sell products and services to clients

  • Monitor and maintain health and safety practices in the salon

  • Cut hair to create a variety of looks

  • Style and dress hair using a variety of techniques

  • Colour hair to create a variety of looks

  • Hairdressing consultation support for colleagues

  • Creative hairdressing design skills

Learners who complete this qualification are eligible to become a State Registered Hairdresser (SRH) with The Hairdressing Council.
