Course Outline
This Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Behaviour that Challenges has been devised to increase learners’ awareness and understanding of behaviour that challenges and its effects.
It covers a wide range of areas including behaviour that challenges, supporting positive behaviour, the importance of effective communication and management of behaviour that challenges and the role of reflection and support for those involved in incidents of behaviour that challenges.
This qualification is aimed at learners working in roles that support children and young people in Early Years settings, Primary, Secondary or Special Schools, as well as Colleges.
This is a knowledge only course, no observation of practice is required.Structure
You will need to complete the 4 Mandatory Units as follows to achieve this qualification.
Mandatory Units:
- Understand behaviour that challenges
- Understand how to support positive behaviour
- Understand the importance of effective communication and the management of behaviour that challenges
- Understand the role of reflection and support for those involved in incidents of behaviour that challenges.
Entry Requirements
Minimum age 16 years
Course Duration
6 months – 4 sessions plus assignment writing time. Dates to be confirmed on an individual basis with assessor.

- This course can be funded privately for £811 +VAT.
- Funding is available subject to eligibility in Devon.
